Community Habilitation Services
Community Habilitation Services are provided to individuals with developmental disabilities who reside in Brooklyn and Queens. Trained staff members work with individuals on a number of goals, including ADL skills, socialization and academic needs. These goals will increase the individual’s potential for independence, individualization and productivity. Staff will work with individuals on these goals and make notes of their progress.

DYCD Summer Interns

Afterschool Program
Elmy's Special Services Afterschool Program is an engaging and stimulating service provided to individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities between the ages of 6 and 15. The Afterschool program is a service that primarily provides individuals with assistance meeting IEP goals and completing daily homework assignments.
56th Assembly District Women of Distinction Awards
This month Elmy’s Special Services attended the 56th Assembly District Women of Distinction Awards Ceremony organized by Assemblywoman, Tremaine S. Wright at the Skylight Gallery in Brooklyn. The ceremony celebrated the groundbreaking achievements of women leaders working across a range of fields in our community.
Day Habilitation at the Herbert Von King Park
Day Habilitation participants experienced a refreshing day of art at the Herbert Von King Park in Bedstuy (Brooklyn, NY). Participants made their very own tie-dye t-shirts in an interactive hands-on activity facilitated by ESS Direct Support Professionals.
National Night Out at Restoration Plaza
Elmy’s Special Services participated in National Night Out at Restoration Plaza. National Night Out is held on the first Tuesday of August and hosted by 79th Precinct Council. It is a day when the Police in every borough will spend time with youth and families in every Community and they will come together to develop a better relationship, in which, will help in improving our community.
Bronx Educational Opportunity Center Job fair
ESS participated in the Bronx Educational Opportunity Center Job fair. The fair featured over 40 industry leaders within the field of Healthcare, Direct Support, Technology, Civil Service, Security, and Education among others. Representatives from ESS were on site to provide useful information to qualified candidates seeking employment opportunities.
