Elmy’s Special Services’ Respite provides temporary relief for families and caregivers of persons with developmental disabilities in Brooklyn. This program allows families to have time for errands, vacations, and other planned activities, enabling them to take a much-needed break from the demands of caregiving.

After School Respite
Afterschool Program offers a wide range of enrichment programs with academic support and physical activity in a safe, structured environment provided to individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities between the ages of 6 and 19.
This program provides individuals with assistance in meeting their IEP goals and completing daily homework assignments. The program also gives individuals opportunities for socialization and a choice of recreational activities.

Holiday Respite
The Holiday Respite provides temporary relief for families and caregivers of people with developmental disabilities ages 6 and 19 in Brooklyn. This program corresponds with the Department of Education’s holiday schedule and runs 24 days a year. When students are out of school for a holiday or school break, they can participate in various recreational activities, such as visiting museums, zoos, and amusement parks to increase their socialization and community awareness skills.
Individuals are provided with a healthy lunch and snack options every day. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Transportation is provided to and from.
In-Home Respite
Our trained staff members provide quality care in the comfort of the individual's home, allowing caregivers to take a break, recharge, and attend to their own needs. Whether it's for a few hours, a day, or longer, In-Home Respite gives caregivers the peace of mind that their loved one is in good hands and being well-cared for.
Overnight Weekend Respite
This program provides temporary relief for families and caregivers of people with developmental disabilities ages six and older to help them have time for errands, weekend vacations, and other planned activities. This service can be offered outside of the home in various NYC hotels and is available overnight from Friday to Sunday. Individuals can participate in activities and go to places, including sporting events, concerts, recreational centers, and shows that will help them have greater opportunities for independence.
